Long weekend...

It was a beautiful weekend in Indianapolis, and we actually spent it here! We have been out of town for much of the last month on the weekends, so it was nice to be at home. Most of Saturday was spent doing yard work. On Saturday evening we went to the wedding of one of Jon's pledge brothers from college. It was downtown at a Bocce park, and was beautiful! On Sunday we headed up to Mark and Heather's house for the boy's Fantasy Football draft. It was a gorgeous day to sit out on their deck. The boat wasn't working, but we still had a nice time. Here are some pics from the weekend!

10 1/2 months...

So Oliver is quite the funny little guy these days. His newest trick is sucking on his bottom lip. I think that he just likes the sound that it makes. He is very active, so our home is now barricaded with all kinds of safety equipment. We have gates, cabinet locks, door jams so he can't smash his fingers, etc. Our living room is looking pretty bare these days since we have put up a lot of our decor. If you are sitting in front of the couch, Oliver will not hesitate to climb up you so he can get on it. He will also climb up the love seat to sit on the back of it so he can see out the window, just like a little cat. He is loving food, and man, can he put it away! Blueberries are his favorite, followed closely by cheese. At lunch he put away a whole piece of pizza, as well as several tomato slices and a container of grapes. He tried spaghetti for the first time, and loved it! He really won't sit down anymore. He prefers to either squat or stand. He has some strong little tree trunks for legs! He has been dancing more and more too, to go along with his singing and piano playing. Luke came over to play the other day, and they were hilarious, wrestling around with each other. They had to be playing with the same toy, at the same time, and were all up in each other's business. Here are some more recent pics...

Soccer fun

On Monday evening Oliver and I went to watch Jon play soccer. He is the goalie on the Lilly intramural finance team. From what I hear, he is pretty good! The weather was gorgeous, and it was so nice to be outside. Here is our little water boy...

Madison fun, part 2...

After spending a few days with Hil and DB, it was time for some Haug family fun! The big reason for the trip was Chuck and Jody's (Jon's brother and sister-in-law) 10 year anniversary, and their vow renewal. Saturday was absolutely gorgeous, and after a beautiful ceremony, there was a big hog roast and party! We all had a great time. Here are pictures from the entire day.

Madison fun, part 1...

We left Wednesday evening to drive to Madison for a long weekend. After driving through some inclement weather and tornado sirens, we arrived at Hillary and DB's house in one piece. Hillary is my best friend that I had in Chicago. She and DB have lived in Seattle for the last 3 years, but are now up in Madison permanently. We are very excited that we are going to get to see them more often! We spent 2 fabulous days with them in their beautiful new home. We also got to hang with their new goldendoodle puppy, Molly. Oliver was madly in love with Molly! No puppies for us yet though. Hillary and I had a great time shopping and catching up. Here are some pics of Ollie and Molly!!

Go, Cubs, Go!

We finally had our first big night out away from Oliver! Marie came down to babysit overnight, and we headed up to Chicago with Mike and Trish for a Cubs game and a night out on the town. It was their first night leaving Luke, too, so we were all in the same boat. Our drive to Chicago was horrible because of construction, but we made it up just in time to drop our car at the Westin and head up to Wrigley. The Cubs won, and we had a great time at the game! We were able to meet up with Trish's sister Courtney and brother-in-law Sean, as well as our good friends Cam, Erica and Craig and some of Cam's family at Goose Island after the Cubs game.

After having a few drinks at Goose Island, we headed back to our hotel for some R&R, and to freshen up for our big night out. We met Trish's other sister, Meg, at Nomi for some fabulous martinis. We then went over to Cafe Spiaggia for a great dinner! I was a little fuzzy on the dinner part after two martinis, but a great time was had by all!!

We were very happy to finally make it home on Sunday after getting stuck forever by a car accident, and then construction again! This made the bad drive home all worth it though...

Story time, story time...

So after a several month hiatus, we returned to the library this AM for story time. Toddler story time is every Wednesday morning at 10:30. We took the summer off because I have pretty much worked every Wednesday since May. Oliver acted like it was the most fun he's ever had! Miss Nancy is the story time lady, and has a weekly theme. We sing songs and read books. This week the theme was food. We read some fun books about food, and sang the peanut butter and jelly song, as well as I like veggies (to the tune of Are You Sleeping...). Ollie clapped, and sang, and danced, and jumped the entire time. After we are finished with the books, Miss Nancy pulls out a big box of toys for all of the kids to play with. We were there for an hour, and I pretty much had to drag Oliver out of the library when everyone else was leaving. I think he would have stayed all day! Needless to say, we will be returning every week. It won't be long before we get him a library card and start checking out books to read at home!

10 months old!

I really cannot believe that Oliver is 10 months old already. This year has really flown by! We celebrated his 10 month birthday by meeting my nursing school friends for lunch. Sarah and Timothy were in town on their way to New Jersey where they are moving! It was great to catch up. Sarah, Holly and Stephanie are all expecting, so we will soon have 5 little ones on our lunch dates instead of just Oliver and Emma!

Who needs toys??

Oliver loves exploring his surroundings, and has become quite the little crawler. If I'm crawling behind him, I can hardly keep up! Lately he has been playing with anything and everything. Who needs toys, anyways??

Food, glorious food!

So Oliver is turning into a little Jon Jr. He loves to eat, but is still long and lean! He is his daddy's boy. He is completely on table food now, no more mush! He mostly feeds himself, and eats what we eat, cut into little pieces. His favorites are cheese, blueberries, and waffles. He also loves fruits and veggies. We call him the gourmet baby because he will eat asparagus, loves havarti with dill, and even ate salmon quiche. I hope that he continues to be a good eater as he gets older. He is still nursing once a day, but also gets formula in a sippy cup, which he is doing great with! Our baby is really turning into a little man! Here are some pics of him enjoying his grub.

A weekend away...

I went up to Chicago with Jayme this weekend for our friend Susan's 30 birthday/bachelorette party. It was my first night away from Oliver, but we both did great. I had so much fun hanging out with my friends Jayme, Susan, Katie, Christine and Joanna from IU. Oliver had a great time hanging out with his Daddy. I did miss them very much though, and was happy to come back home. Here is a pic from our night of fun!
