Warm spell!

On New Year's Eve it was 62 degrees!! So Jon and Oliver went outside for some running around and playtime. Almost all of the snow melted (except for a small mound that was Mr. Snowman); and Oliver got to play with his new remote controlled car. Fun times!

A brunch and a dinner...

After returning to Indy, we got to meet up with two other sets of friends on the 30th. In the am, I hosted a brunch for my nursing school friends and their families. Sarah and Miles (15 months) were in from New Jersey, Steph, Bryan, Emma (4) and MacKenna (10 months), and Holly, Adrian, and Addison (14 months) all came over to eat, catch up, and play. We had such a wonderful morning. If only we could get Sarah to move back to Indy!

Miles and Sarah Addison, Holly, Stephanie and MacKenna Eva and MacKenna Oliver and Emma That evening, we headed down to Greenwood to meet up with the Richey's who were in from out of town. Cary and Syndy have Abbie (4) and Andy (3), and Derek and Kelly have Lincoln (2) and Devon (8 months). The Frymans joined us down there with Silas (6 months). We had a nice visit while all of the kids ran around like wild people!!

Baby Colbie!

Our last day in Madison, we got to meet up with Hillary (one of my best friends from Chicago), her husband D.B., and their sweet baby Colbie who is 7 weeks old. Hillary and D.B. live in Madison now, so we get to visit every time we are in town. We drove out to their house for lunch, and then Jon and D.B. surprised us with a spa day. Hil and I got facials, massages, and foot rubs, and then went for a coffee and a little girl time. It was so great to catch up!! Evie loved baby Colbie, and Oliver had fun playing with Molly, who is now such a gentle giant!

More holiday fun...

The day after Christmas, we headed to Uncle Chuck and Auntie Jody's house for a fabulous brunch, more cousin playtime, and more presents! We missed Auntie Jenna and Uncle Chris, who are in Spain for their honeymoon, but had a great time with the rest of the fam.

Jody, Chuck, me, Jeff, Marie, Cassie, Oliver

Cassie, Ollie and Alex I think I will open this with my mouth... Oliver rocking out on his new drum. After the morning festivities, we headed back to Grandma Haug's for a little quiet time before meeting up with Grandma Mac, Great Aunt Amy, Great Aunt Nai and Great Uncle Dale, and all of Jon's cousins: Ryan and Addie, Sarah, Adam, Heather, Jonathan, Tyler, and A.J. as well as Aunt Jody, Uncle Chuck, Alex, Cassie, Grandma and Papa, and Grandma Haug at the bowling alley. We had a great afternoon. Ollie loved bowling for the first time, with a little assistance from Mommy and the bumpers.

Christmas!

We had a long and crazy, but very fun Christmas this year. It started Christmas Eve at the Haug house. We opened our first round of presents, and set out milk and cookies for Santa.
Ollie testing out his new sleeping bag.
New camera!
Testing Santa's cookies.
Christmas morning we went down to open the stockings and presents from Santa Claus before getting on the road.
After playing with presents for a bit and getting cleaned up, we packed up the car and headed to Griffith to Great Aunt Claudia and Great Uncle Bob's house where we visited with them, Grandma, Papa, Auntie Erin, Uncle Ben, Lanie, Reggie, Ryder, Gigi, Great Aunt Mindy and Great Uncle Mark, Laura and Victoria.

After a fabulous Christmas dinner and more presents, we hopped in the car again and headed up to Madison to Great Grandma Haug's to visit with the Haug family. Ollie and Evie had so much fun playing with their cousins Alex and Cassie. Christmas is also Alex's birthday, so we got to celebrate him too!!

Breakfast with Santa

Every year, Lilly holds Breakfast with Santa in their main cafeteria. We have always been out of town in the past, but were able to go this year since we didn't start our travels until Christmas Day. It was really nice, with a big brunch, and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. They also had some great Christmas music playing. While Evie and I were waiting in line to get Santa pictures, Oliver was having a dance party. Needless to say, he was not too happy to stop dancing and have his picture taken. Here is what we got:
Awesome. Oliver trying to escape from Jon, and Evie looking down, probably trying to figure out how to get Mrs. Claus's finger in her mouth. After brunch, we ran up to Jon's office, where Oliver decided to do some work for him.

Snowman!

The week before Christmas, we were hit with a few huge snowstorms! When it warmed up a bit, Jon and Ollie took advantage and made a snowman. Oliver loves his snowman. He waves at him through the windows, and every time we leave, he waves and says "Bye snowman!!" When we are driving, he also likes to spot for other snowmen along the way.

2 years, 2 months...

School pictures November 2010 I have said several times in the last 2 months that these are trying times, with the tantrums and the Mr. Independent act (me do, me do, no, move!!) However, lately Oliver has been such a funny little guy! His vocabulary has just exploded. Not only can he suddenly count to 10 and sing songs (Jingle Bells, the Wonder Pets theme song, Diego theme song, The Wheels on the Bus and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star compose his repertoire at this point), he is also beginning to form recognizable sentences. Jon was hunting for a few days, and Ollie kept saying "Dada shoot ducks." Evie burped the other day, and he said "'Scuse you, Evie!" He also continues to do funny things. He was playing with the breast pump the other day, and had the tubing on his belly button, saying "get milk for Evie". He repeats everything these days, and still likes to help cook, freaks out over messes and needs them cleaned up immediately, likes to play hide-and-seek, LOVES trains ("All aboard, choo choo!!"). He is still a fabulous dancer, incorporating rolling on the floor into his routines. Another thing we have discovered lately is that he has inherited Mommy's gag reflex (thanks too to Gigi Krouse...). He is a bit dramatic, but will gag on food and request a "na-kin" so he can spit it out. Oh what fun we are having with our cute little 2-year-old!!

4 months old!

I can't believe that our sweet girl is 4 months old already! She did great at her 4 month appointment (which was actually 4 months +1week since we went after vacation). Dr. Bergstein is still impressed at how strong Evie is. She rolled over the day after she turned 4 months old, and now every time we place her on her back, she is on her tummy within about 2 seconds. She is pushing up really high, and starting to bend her little knees up. I think we may have an early crawler on our hands!! Her 4 months stats are:

Length: 26 1/2 inches (above the 97th percentile)

Weight: 13 pounds 15 ounces (70th percentile)

She is still our little super model; long and thin! She is starting to get the cutest little rolls on her legs though, and I did notice the other day that her little wrists are starting to get a little roly poly too!! We'll see how she does in a few days when she starts solids!

Long and lean!

Other Disney Fun!

While we were at Disney, we stayed at the Grand Floridian, which was absolutely gorgeous! It was all decked out for Christmas, including a huge gingerbread house. The gingerbread house has been featured on the Travel Channel, and was pretty cool.

Giant tree in the lobby. Gingerbread house
Jon in front of the gingerbread house so you can see how huge it is! Jon and I had a great time at Disney too. His conference had events Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings, so we got to get out a bit while Marie watched the kiddos.
But I know that you all read this Blog to see cute pictures of the kids, so here you go!!
