Shoes

Eva LOVES to put her shoes on, and take them off. This is how I caught her in the hallway the other day. What can I say, she has great taste in shoes, just like her mama! This could get expensive later on... (Jon would probably already say that it is expensive, as she owns 3 times as many shoes as her brother. : ))

Draft party

On Friday evening, the Colts opened up Lucas Oil Stadium for a huge draft party. It was so much fun! There were players signing autographs, concessions, the draft live on the huge TV screens, and the best part of all, they had a kids Play 60 section on the field with different football drills set up. Oliver was in heaven (as was Daddy)! We got there right when it started, and totally lucked out because there were short lines, and Ollie and Evie could run through the drills over and over. By the time we left it was pretty crowded. Of course the Colts had a horrible season last year and had the #1 draft pick. We have high hopes for Andrew Luck. Can't wait to see him in action next year!

Hanging with Mommy on the field.
 Cheese!
 Evie checking out the draft.
 Waiting in line with Daddy.
Catching passes in the end zone.
 Get it, Ol!
He was awesome at these running drills, and was so cute waiting in line with all of the big kids.
He has the ball tucked perfectly!
Diving onto the mat through the two sandbags.
Look at the sheer joy on his face. Maybe he will take after his daddy and play college ball...

Thanks teachers!

The first week of May is always Teacher Appreciation Week at Oliver and Eva's school. One of the things that they ask us to do is make the teachers Thank You notes from the kids. Both of my kiddos LOVE to paint, but it always makes a huge mess. A lot of the art projects that they do at school involve hand prints and foot prints, so when they paint at home, not only does the paper get painted, but their hands and feet usually do as well. This time was no exception. We did end up with cute Thank You notes, and a beautiful floor by the end! Nothing that a few (well, maybe half of a container) of Clorox wipes and a Swiffer or two didn't fix!

My little artists.
Eva especially loves painting. This is the part where she was dumping the jar of paint upside down to create a cool splatter effect. : )
 Painting their feet.
 And making foot prints!

And close up of the beautiful floor artwork.

Sister for sale!

Yesterday, I asked Oliver what we were going to do with his sister, because she doesn't listen very well. He quickly responded with "We should go buy a new sister who listens all of the time." Interesting. So then I asked where you would go to buy new sisters. Well, the sister store, of course. Apparently it is far, far, far, far away, by Doc McStuffins house (a Disney character). OK.

Later in the day, I asked what we would do with Eva after we bought a new baby. I made the mistake of taking a sip of water after this question, and about spit it all over the kitchen when he said "Give her away." So then I asked who we would give her to, and he said "Silas" (our friend Mark and Heather's little guy who is 6 weeks older than Eva). I told him that I would be very sad if we gave Eva away, and I would miss her very much. He said "You'd be fine, you'd have a new baby." Oh dear, I guess she bit him a few too many times yesterday.

How could we ever give this sweet girl away? As ornery as she can be, she always makes me smile. And she's the closest thing Jon has to a child that resembles him. How cute is this? Miss long and skinny. She is totally pushing her belly out, because it is so flat!!
Hi Daddy! Yes, I put a few stickers on the couch, right after I took my clothes off and threw them across the room. Don't they look nice?

Fire building 101

As soon as the boys returned from shooting, Grandpa was ready to build a campfire. Oliver and Eva had a great time collecting sticks. Eva was enamored by her grandpa, and kept saying "Papa, papa" the entire time. She wouldn't get too close to him though. She is so funny!

Running in the front yard.
Checking out the new firepit with Papa.
 Collecting giant sticks!
Eva didn't want to be outdone by her brother...
Putting a stick in her pocket. You know, in case she needed it for something later.
 "Driving" the 4-wheeler.
 Doing some mechanical work.
Licking the icing off of the cake. Evie only poked a few holes in the side...
Later at the campfire, Ollie was in charge of passing out beers. He thought that it was so much fun! He was a trooper sleeping out in the tent. It got a bit chilly that night, but we had PLENTY of blankets. Camping trip #2 was a success! And yes, he got to pee outside multiple times. So much fun.

Marksman in training

Tuesday had been Marie's birthday, and Saturday was Jeff's birthday, so after soccer on Saturday morning, we headed up to Frankfort for a birthday celebration including shooting, a delicious dinner, cake, and camping. Jon decided it was time for Ollie to go to the shooting range. They headed over to the Hesters, and Oliver got to wear his earphones and watch the big boys target shoot. Jon said he thought it was hilarious, and he had a great time playing with the dogs and helping to pick up the clay pigeons that had not been hit.

Playing with Daddy.
He LOVES dogs. Maybe someday, buddy, maybe someday...
Checking out the clay pigeon launcher.
 Collecting the extras!

20 months old!

On Thursday Eva went in for her 20 month appointment. She did great! Of course she burst into tears when we walked into the room, but Nurse Dorothy promised no shots and gave her a Dora sticker, and then she was fine. Dr. Bergstein was thrilled with her growth. When she walked into the room, she said "I don't know what you did, but she has grown exponentially!" Little miss was 34 inches long (90th percentile), and 26 pounds 9.5 ounces (70th percentile). I thought that she was feeling a little heavy lately. She is still tall and thin though. She has definitely hit all of her milestones, which included:

  • Throwing a ball (this girl has an arm on her!)

  • Kicking a ball (yup).

  • Saying 50 words (I don't even know how many words she knows, but it is A LOT! She is also starting to combine 2-3 words together. She likes to announce what she is doing-as we were at the office, she kept climbing the exam table, saying "Climb, Climb, Off!" as she dove off of the side. She also bursts out with random words, like "bathing suit" while we were on vacation, and repeats everything!)

  • Saying animal sounds (she was being a little shy, but I got a moo and a meow (well, she says Mow, rhyming with Cow) out of her for Dr. B. She knows many others, but her favorites are probably roaring and quacking. She likes to pant when you ask her what a doggie says).

The only thing that Dr. B had for us was to switch little miss from whole milk to 2% since she is growing so great! Other 20 month stats: Miss Eva is wearing a size 5 diaper, size 7 shoes, and either 24 month or 2T clothes. She thinks she is at least 3 years old, like her brother, loves to dress herself, will not let you help her put her shoes on, is very opinionated. If you tell her she is putting a shoe on the wrong foot, she will shake her head and tell you no. She also has quite the little attitude if she does not get her own way. Most of the time she is a sweet, happy girl though!

Happy Easter

Yes, a short 14 hours after we returned home from Arizona, we repacked our bags and headed up to Elkhart for Easter! Normally we wouldn't have gone for that much craziness in one weekend, but this year Dad converted to Catholicism, and we wanted to be there to help celebrate! Saturday night Erin and I went to the 3 hour marathon mass, and on Easter Sunday we had a big Easter egg hunt, Easter baskets, and a huge home cooked meal thanks to Debbie! We got to see a lot of our Greichunos relatives too, so it was a very nice day.
