Bubbles...

So along with Jon being sick, poor Oliver is still teething. I can see a glimmer of white under his top gums, so hopefully it will pop through soon!! When Ollie teethes, he pours snot, so has been getting his nose wiped frequently also. When we gave him a bath the other night, we tried out our Johnson's Soothing Vapor Bath to see if it would help his nose out a little bit. What it did was make a lot of suds! And Oliver's new favorite thing to do in the bath is stick his little face in the water and blow bubbles. So this is what he looked like in the tub:

Bored? Grab a box of Kleenex!

Jon was away for the weekend playing golf up in Michigan, and came home with a horrible cold/sinus infection. So Kleenex and hand sanitizer have been all over the house! Oliver grabbed a box on Sunday evening, and it made for a good 45 minutes of entertainment. After he pulled them out one by one, he proceeded to try to put them all back in the box (clever kid), and then pull them back out again. For a little over a dollar, the fun can be yours too! The tissues didn't even go to waste; Jon put them all in a big bag and has been using them. Our game ended, however, when Oliver decided to start eating the Kleenex. I know, Mommy is no fun...

What? I'm not getting into trouble...
Hey, this is fun!

Do you think it will taste good? OK, maybe not...

Teething is no fun!

So this picture pretty much sums up the week we've been having:

Poor Oliver is teething. And it's not fun at all. The poor guy has had a runny nose, and has been drooling like a maniac! Not to mention that he's been chewing on anything he can get his hands on. He had kind of a rough day yesterday at school, and has just been bursting into tears at random moments. So Tylenol is our friend right now, and hopefully that little bugger with pop through his gums shortly!! I have a feeling that we may have a rough few weeks ahead of us, because poor little Ollie still only has his two bottom teeth, so there are a lot that have yet to make an appearance. Wish us luck!

Saturday evening wedding...

So after our trip to the zoo, and a long nap on the couch for Oliver and Daddy, we all got gussied up for a wedding! Bill and Scotti Hester are longtime neighbors of Jon's parents, and Jon grew up with their two sons, Geordie and Shawn. Geordie got married several years ago to Kourtney, and they have a beautiful 19 month old daughter, Natalie. This weekend it was Shawn's turn to get married to Shelly.

The wedding was at 4:30 at Lumiere du Corps in Lebanon. It was a beautiful evening for an outdoor ceremony. Ollie was so excited to see his grandma and grandpa! The wedding was lovely, the food was yummy, and the dancing was so much fun! We all had a great time.

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo!

Today is another beautiful day in Indianapolis, and the weather this morning was perfect for a trip to the zoo! Jon has been wanting to take Oliver for awhile, so we loaded up the car after breakfast and headed downtown. We ended up buying a zoo membership, so will be going pretty frequently this fall.

Oliver had a great time! We got there around 10, and the first dolphin show was at 10:30, so we walked around for a little bit, seeing the walruses, bears, and lemurs, and then to the dolphin show we went. Ollie just stared the entire time. He was mesmerized by the dolphins and their tricks!

After the dolphin show, we got to feed the giraffes! Very fun. Then we spent some time in the farm area. Ollie had a great time petting the goats. The only trauma of the day occured when he stuck his little hand in to try to pet a chicken, and he got pecked. Poor buddy. But the zoo overall was a success. Can't wait to go again!

First day of school!

Yesterday was Oliver's first day of "school". He and Luke are going to Meridian Street Methodist Church's CDI (Child's Day In) program every Tuesday from 9-2:30. Trish and I were both very nervous about their first day, especially because our spoiled boys have only ever stayed with family. We dropped them off and lingered for a bit in their class to talk to their teachers, Miss Heather and Miss Monika. Oliver hopped right down out of my arms and started to play right away. There were no tears from either boy when we left. Trish and I went out and had a great mimosa breakfast to calm us down.

I spent the day cleaning and grocery shopping, and before I knew it, it was 2:00. When we walked into the building to pick the boys up, we heard some tears and commotion from their classroom. That made us a bit nervous, but then we walked in the room and saw that the only 2 passed out kiddos were Luke and Oliver. They were both dead asleep, even with all of the noise! Miss Monika said that they both did beautifully, and both ate their entire lunch. I think she was a little surprised at how much Ollie ate. She only started with half of his blueberries, but of course he ate the entire container, and probably wanted more after that! So school is a success, I'm sure that they are very excited for next week!

The only bad thing about school is that somebody taught Oliver how to take more steps. He was only taking one little step at a time, and when he got home yesterday, he was taking 2-4 in a row. He's going to take off pretty soon!!

One little step...

With a bit of coercion, Oliver took some tentative but unassisted steps over the weekend! He was reaching for a DVD, and would take one little step at a time. He acts like he is wearing concrete shoes though, so I think we still have awhile before he takes off!

In other news, he has started playing the recorder. He was playing with it on the way to church on Sunday, and all of the sudden Jon and I heard some tooting coming from the back seat. At first he was just singing into it; but then he figured out how to blow into the mouthpiece. Sometimes it takes a few tries to figure out which end is the right one to blow into, but he can definitely make it work!

This morning in the bathtub, he was playing with his frogs as usual, and then he bent over, stuck his face in the water, and started blowing bubbles. I was so surprised, I've never seen him do that before! He kind of scared me, because he was alternating blowing bubbles with choking on the bath water, but he had a good time. And yes, he is still in his baby tub, and will be for a bit longer until he grows out of it, or learns how to escape from it!!

His cute cow towel, this is the best I could do before he pulled it off of his head!!

Time is flying!

This week has gone so quickly! I think it's because we have had something going on every day. We are all ready for the long weekend. On Monday Oliver and I drove down to Jon's soccer game. Tuesday we took a family trip to the driving range. Jon has wanted to take Oliver all summer, and he did have a good time watching Mommy and Daddy take turns hitting golf balls. Wednesday we went to story time, and Miss Nancy set a book aside for Oliver to check out. It is called Ollie the Stomper. Very cute! We have been taking walks every day because it has been so gorgeous out! This morning we had playgroup at Holliday park. Ollie went on the swings for the first time, and had fun playing with the babies. Most are in motion now, so it makes things interesting!! Here are some pics from playgroup.
