Cousins

Grandma Krouse passed away the night before my baby shower, so on Monday, we packed up and headed to Ohio for her viewing and funeral. We are all glad that she is at peace now in Heaven with Grandpa; and even though it was a sad occasion, it was great to see all of our cousins! There are 9 in our generation, and 8 (soon to be 9) great-grandkids! Here are the cuties.

Nicksics come for a visit!

Our friends Dan and Katie Nicksic dropped in for a visit with their boys, Eli (3) and Charlie (19 months). Dan is one of Jon's best friends from college. The Nicksic's live out in Oklahoma, so we don't get to see them very often, but we always have such a great time when we do! We had our friends Brian, Shannon, Quinn (3) and Grant (19 months) Steed over to cookout and visit also, and had a great time watching the 5 little boys run around the backyard and play!!

Super Hot Dog!! The "grown-ups". Me, Shannon, Katie, Dan, and Brian Oliver and Charlie scowling in the wagon. "Quit taking our picture and pull us around!!!" Testing out the Double Bob!! These boys could be twins, Oliver just has a few pounds on Charlie...

Belly shots!

Marie was nice enough to come take some belly shots of me again! She did some for me when I was pregnant with Oliver too. Even though Ollie wasn't really cooperating, we still got some great pics!! Here are some of our favs.

He has a scowl on his face, but his little hand is in his pocket. Too cute! There is a really cool one of this in black and white with the bow in color, but I can't get it to upload...

Happy Father's Day!

So Jon was in Vegas all of Father's Day weekend for a bachelor party. Oliver and I had a great weekend, thanks to Marie and Jenny who came over to help out! Jon arrived home safe and sound on Sunday night, and I kept Oliver up a little late so he could see him on Father's Day! While Jon was away for the weekend, Oliver finally figured out how to jump with BOTH feet. He has also, just in the past week or so, started to combine words! His vocabulary is amazing; I hear several new words every day. He will say little phrases like "read book", "I cold", "eat blues". He has also started saying "I poo-poo" every time he pees or passes gas. Maybe he will be ready earlier to potty train!

Happy Father's Day!! And yes, Ollie is wearing one of the blue jean diapers. I am a sucker...

20 month stats!!

Oliver had his 20 month appointment a week early, but is still a big, happy, healthy boy!! Here are his stats:
  • Height: 34 inches, 75th percentile
  • Weight: 28 pounds, 13 oz, 75th percentile

He is also thriving in his motor and verbal skills. Dr. Bergstein asked if he could

  • throw a ball: he has been doing this forever
  • kick a ball: he can run and dribble like a soccer player!!
  • if he can say 10-50 words: Jon and I started making a list, and he can say well over 70 words at this point! She said that that was excellent for a boy.
  • Make several animal noises: He can baa, woof, meow, neigh, quack and moo with the best of them, not to mention growling!

Luckily he didn't have to get any immunizations at this visit, and he goes back at 2 years! That was the eye opening part of the appointment; Dr. B said to wait to schedule his 2 year appointment, because I could bring him and the baby together next time! Yikes!

Other 20 month stats:

  • Oliver wears a size 5 diaper
  • Most of his clothes are either 24 months or 2T
  • We went shoe shopping at the end of May, and his feet have grown an entire whole size in less than 2 months!! He went from a 6 to a 7.

Jon decided to start calling Ollie "Bam-Bam", because he is always carrying a bat around. I found this t-shirt a day or two later; how perfect!!

Oliver in his new kicks. I didn't even know they made Saucony's for babies... Cheese!! He is a very solid boy!

Summertime fun!!

I know that the first day of summer hasn't hit yet, but the hot, sunny weather that we have had lately makes it feel like summer has been here for a month!! We have been enjoying the heat, and all of the yummy food that it brings! Oliver tried corn on the cob for the first time, and absolutely loves it!! He has also grown quite fond of watermelon, and got his first ice cream cone.

Munch, munch, munch!
Crunch, crunch!
Sharing with Daddy.
He kept taking bites out of the side of the cone...
Yummy!!
Another fun thing that summer has brought was the opening of the pool!! At the end of last summer we discovered the JCC which has the most fabulous kiddie pool I have ever seen!! We went twice last week, and Jon finally joined us on Sunday. Oliver loves all of the sprayers and the tunnel, and even tested out the slide.

Kiddie pool! Jon and Oliver are standing on the steps.

Getting a drink. Swimming makes me so thirsty!

On the lazy river. Come on, Dad, let's go down the slide!!
