Little man is a month already! It has flown by. He is still the sweetest boy.
Likes: Eating, being held, having his little butt or back patted, his brother and sister, his playmat. He LOVES to look at his little animals, and will talk to them and smile at them. His first real smile (not sleeping or eating) was looking right at me a day before he was 4 weeks old. He has great head control, and will already track objects. Dr. Bergstein said he is hitting his 2 month milestones already. Very advanced! ;)
Dislikes: Being put down, although he will hang out in his swing for awhile each day. He doesn't like his bassinet at night, and it usually takes us a good 10 minutes of patting his belly and holding a binky in his mouth after a feeding to get him to sleep. He still HATES having wet diapers, but does not mind sitting in poop. What a man...
He is still nursing on demand anywhere from every 1-3 hours. At night he will usually give us at least 2 3-hour stretches between feedings.
One month stats: Weight: 10 pounds, 11 ounces. He gained 2 pounds in 3 weeks!
Length: 22.5 inches

Happy Valentine's Day!
Oliver had Valentine's parties in both of his classes, which meant two rounds of Valentines! We worked hard making them while Grandma was here. Oliver helped make about 2, and then declared that he was tired, and finished helping. I was like no way buddy, these are for your class! He punched all of the circles out for the piggie heads, and then put all of the hearts on them after I glued everything down. They turned out cute! Too bad he got sick the morning of his class party and stayed home. I was so bummed for him, but his wonderful teachers collected Valentines for him, and he handed his out the next week.
Wednesday class Valentines. Much easier to assemble, and I came up with this idea on my own using the extra party favors left over from his birthday pinata.

Since Ollie missed his class party, we had our own Valentine's party on Saturday when the Rans fam came to visit Elliot. Ollie and I made decorations, we ordered pizza, and Auntie Erin brought some awesome balloons. I didn't get a chance to snap any pics while they were here, but we did get some of our homemade decor.

Project bird feeder
Jon left for his first overnight trip when Elliot was just over 2 weeks old. Grandma and Jenny helped us out, and I had this project lined up for something to do. We had a few empty toilet paper holders, so we slathered them in peanut butter and bird seed. It was fun, and wasted a good half hour or so.
Spreading the peanut butter
And rolling it in bird seed!
I think Oliver was a bit disgusted by this...
The finished product
Finding a good spot on the tree!
Our big fat squirrel who stole the bird feeders and hauled them up the tree!

Double trouble...
I have been so lucky since bringing Elliot home that Oliver and Eva play so well together. They have always been partners in crime, and are even more so these days since Mommy spends so much time feeding Elliot. They are so cute, and have such imaginations! I love to hear their stories and the games that they make up.
Officer Haug and Doctor Haug. Officer Haug was protecting the doctor's office, and they had a whole story going about the bad guys breaking in, etc. Too funny!
Playing with a sticker book.
They were supposed to be taking a nap. I about had a heart attack when I went to check on them. I love that O is wearing one of E's hats. I don't love that they are sitting on their dresser. I'm glad we bolted everything to the walls a few years ago though.
Here they are playing walk the kitty. I'm not sure why they were pretending to walk the cat instead of the dog, but it kept them entertained for a long while.
Tying the kitty up so she doesn't run away...

Out of the mouths of babes...
Here we are, almost two weeks in already. I can't believe it! Everyone is adjusting quite well. Elliot goes back and forth between having awesome nights (a 4 hour stretch between feedings and then a 3 hour stretch, yes please!), and having rough nights (Hungry Hungry Hippo needs to be fed every two hours!!). He is so chill during the day. Last night we had friends bring over dinner, and he slept the whole time, even with Oliver running around like a maniac screaming and having wrestling matches where he continuously almost lands on little E.
Question #1 when we got home from the hospital from Oliver: "How did the doctor get the baby out?" I started to tell him that there is a special hole that the baby comes out of, hoping that this was enough explination. I should have known better, because this was followed up by "Where is the special hole? Can I see the special hole??" Jon was yelling from the other room "Magic!! The doctor used magic to get the baby out!!!" We'll see when that gets revisited...
Little man is still nursing like a champ. This has brought about some interesting discussions also. If you ask Evie what Elliot eats, she will say "He eats your BOOB!!" I'm not even sure when she started using the word boob, or where she heard it from. Oliver always wants to help, asking if he can squeeze the milk out of my boobs. No buddy, sorry... Then the other day Evie took her shirt off and was trying to stick breast pads to her chest. They have both also pretended to nurse various dolls/stuffed animals. I can't wait to see what happens when I start pumping! I'm a little afraid of what they have been telling people at school. Oliver has also asked several of my friends that have visited if they would like to feed the baby. We have explained that only Mommy can feed the baby. I'm sure it's all pretty confusing!
Oliver has also made some funny statements about how Elliot is related to him. One of our friends asked if it was his new little brother, and Ollie stated "No, I'm his brother!" It's a two way street, buddy. The other day he was saying that Elliot was his brother AND his cousin. Great, don't mention that to anyone either! It has been fun though. Ollie and Evie are great at playing together and entertaining each other also. Love our little family of 5!
Chilling in his swing. The swing and the wrap are the two biggest things that have helped me survive the days alone with three kids so far!
The kids LOVE their little brother. Oliver is always kissing his head, and whispering "I love you" into his ear. Eva is on top of him all the time, and always wants to hold "the baby". We are working on having them call him Elliot, because most of the time they refer to him as "the baby". Eva has been having a little trouble saying Elliot. The first few days we were home, he was "alien". That has now morphed into "Elien" or "Elient". Last night I got yelled at for saying "Elliot". She was insistant that I was saying his name wrong. Oh dear...Question #1 when we got home from the hospital from Oliver: "How did the doctor get the baby out?" 2.5 year check-up and 12 day check
On Wednesday the 6th, Eva had her 2 1/2 year check-up. Elliot was supposed to go in for a weight check at the end of his first week, but since he has been feeding so well and having so many diapers, we decided he could wait a few more days and come in with Evie.
At 10 days old, Elliot is just over birth weight at 8 pounds, 11.5 ounces, and is 21 1/4 inches long. Crazy! The nurse said that we were overachievers since they like them back to birth weight at 2 weeks. Yay!
She loves to wrestle and play with Ollie. She is still very active. She likes to dance, and hop around, of course saying "Hop, Hop, Hop" with each jump. She loves to eat, and can put it away! She will try new foods and really isn't picky like certain 4 year olds...
She is still in a size 5 diaper. Hopefully potty training will come soon. We have tried twice thus far, and failed both times. She is dry almost every morning, and sometimes will change out of her diaper into underwear before bed. She also likes to change her clothes in the middle of the night, and puts together some interesting ensembles. She is also still very independant, and will NOT let us help her get dressed/put on her shoes/etc. She wears an 8.5 shoe and is almost all into size 3 clothes because she is so tall! They are pretty big around the waist.

On the way to the doctor's office. It was his first outing since coming home from the hospital!
Miss Eva is doing great also. At 2 1/2, she is 36 inches and 29.6 pounds. I thought for sure she would be over 30, but she's still a lightweight. She is still ahead of the game, and has hit all of her milestones, including being able to scribble in circles (she does a great job of coloring, and loves to draw/paint/play play-doh, any type of art activity). She is such a talker. Dr. Bergstein laughed when she asked if she could combine several words together, since she is speaking in complete sentences. She loves to talk, sing, and make up stories. "Once upon a time, there was a princess named Evie, and a princess named Bubba, and a big scary dinosaur. The end."
Evie is still a total stinker with a mind of her own. I am getting a little worried about her teenage years, especially when she woke up from her nap in a bad mood the other day and was crying, saying "don't look at me, don't talk to me". Oh dear... She has also started to play Jon and me against each other. If Jon tells her no, she will look at him and say "my mom said I could do [insert whatever she is trying to get away with here]" and vice versa. She is too smart for her own good! One of my favorites. You can't really tell, but she had on a cardigan with two t-shirts over the top of it, and lace tights. The next morning when I told her to get dressed for school, she said "I'm dressed already." Luckily, I was able to talk her into a different outfit.
Another of her gorgeous night time ensembles, complete with leg warmers under her pants.
She is gorgeous, and funny, and so loveable. I have always said she's lucky that she's so cute, because it's gotten her off the hook more than once. She definitely has hit the terrible two's, and is no stranger to the time out corner. I do tend to forget that she is only 2 sometimes, because she acts so much older! She really is a sweet girl. One of our favorite things is when she walks up to us, gives us a big hug, and says "I love you". We love you too, baby girl! (To this she would say "I am not a baby, I'm a big girl!!!)

Feeling great
I have been getting asked a lot how I am feeling. The other parents at school this week were either amazed that I was up and attem, or thinking that I was still pregnant. I really do feel fabulous. I had a small tear during childbirth, but it has not been painful. I only took pain medicine (in the form of Aleve and Tylenol) for about 3 days before I started to forget to take it. I really didn't feel much different without it, so cut it altogether. I also didn't ever use any of the topical medications after I got home from the hospital.
The worst pain I have had is my fire boobs. I think that I remember that it took about 2 weeks for them to stop hurting after I had Eva, so we're halfway there. Recovery has just gone really easily. I am tired, but not even as tired as I remember being after the other two. Jon is such a great help too. After one week, I have already shed 16 of my 31 pounds that I gained. Hopefully with Elliot nursing so often, the rest will fall off rather quickly too. If I continue to feel this great, I think I will be out running at the 5 week mark like I was after I had Eva. Fingers crossed that my energy keeps up!
How could you feel bad when you get to see this much adorableness every few hours?
