Vacation!

We just spent a week in sunny Scottsdale, and had such a great time. Although "relaxing vacation" is not in our vocabulary at this point, it was nice to spend the week together as a family, and we did a lot of really fun activities. I have over 600 pictures to go through, but will try to get everything up in the next week or so. Here is day one of traveling and pool time. This is the last time that Evie will fly as a lap child, so things are going to be really different next time!

Watching a little Bubble Guppies on the plane. Jon looks thrilled!They shared the middle seat through most of the flight. Eva took a short nap, but besides that they were awake, and pretty good fliers.
Eva and I hung out at the airport while Jon and Ollie went to get the rental car. She insisted upon pushing this giant cart around, and thought it was a blast! Passed out on the way to the hotel. It worked out well, we got some groceries and got all checked in, and they got a nice nap. Evie is still rearfacing thanks to the new carseat guidelines, but found a way to stretch out in her bucket seat! Poor baby is so tall, her little legs are always bent up like pretzels. Only 4 more months... Running off a little steam in the hotel room while getting ready for the pool.They took turns pushing the buttons each time we got into the elevator. I'm gonna get you! Jon watering Oliver so he would grow! This was a favorite game during pool time. Ollie LOVED the whirlpool bath. Evie did not. So each night after she got out of the tub, he got a little time to play with the jets before he got out.

March Professional Pics

At the beginning of March, we had some professional pictures taken. Eva and Oliver both look so much older than they did at her one year pictures, so I thought it was time. We had Amy and Trudy from BNB by Three Photography do our photos again. Here are some of our favorite pics of Eva at 19 months, and Oliver at 3 years 5 months.

Shared spaces.

Oliver and Eva moved in together in December, so this post is long overdue! Everyone thinks we are a little crazy for putting them in the same room, but I think we are all sleeping better these days. They have been doing great, and Jon and I are sleeping better knowing that Evie can't escape from her bed and have free reign over the first floor. I did a few Pinterest projects, and think that they have the cutest shared bedroom ever!

Alphabet wall! These are chipboard letters covered in scrapbook paper. I painted the sides of the letters green, pink and navy to match the paper. They turned out so cute, and they are educational! Added bonus. The great thing about these is they are lightweight, so they are hung with poster putty. No holes in the wall! Evie's window. Eventually her clothes will move up here, but I haven't made that transition yet!

Ollie's bed. I did their names with larger chipboard letters and the same paper. They are hung with contact strips. The poster putty wasn't quite strong enough for the 8" letters.

O's side of the room. He has navy and red madras curtains in the same pattern as her pink, and they have matching madras turtle quilts and madras pillows in their respective colors.

Big girl bed!

Our little monkey has been very close to climbing out of her crib for several weeks. Each time she has been lying on the top bar ready to go overboard, we have been able to catch her. Monday evening was going to be the big day that we switched the crib over to the toddler bed. Unfortunately, Monday during her "nap" that she didn't take she decided to go overboard. And it wasn't a graceful drop to her feet like Oliver when he was 25 months, it was an all out fall, crash and cry at 19 months. After I recovered from my heart attack and fully examined her (I couldn't find one mark, luckily), it became no nap Monday, and Jon converted her crib right after dinner. She has been a champ so far, staying in her bed like a big girl. As I write this, she is running around her bedroom and Oliver is telling her to "go back to bed schweetie". I guess maybe we just lucked out the first two nights and naptimes?

Here are our Lil' Kickers! Eva's hair went a little haywire, but I think we were just focusing on trying to get her to smile... She's still the cutest!

Bugs and stuff

Once upon a time, I had this sweet little baby named Eva... Oh wait, she is a big crazy toddler now! She totally looks like a baby in that first picture though!
Note: she totally climbed into the laundry basket by herself with her blanket and pillow. Little monkey! Maybe she thought it was her cage...Since it has been in the 80's lately, we have been spending a lot of time outside playing. This day was a little cooler, thus the long sleeves. They are very interested in something... Oh yeah, it's a worm. Poor worm, probably didn't have a chance. They are both very interested in bugs lately, checking out ant hills, and playing with worms. They found a roly poly bug one day. I think Eva ended up smashing it while she was trying to get it to roll into a ball. Warning: if you are an insect, you may want to move elsewhere besides the Haug yard. O pulling E in the wagon. See, they can play nicely together! Sometimes.

New kitchen!

Most of you know that Jon and I (well, mostly Jon) have done MANY home improvement projects since we moved into 5316 almost 5 years ago. One project that we have talked about for the last 5 years was getting granite countertops. On Tuesday they were finally installed, along with a new 60/40 split sink and a brand new faucet! Classic Stone is the company we used, and they did a fabulous job. Of course, after they were finished, I wasn't sure about the old paint color, and Jon has never liked the light fixtures in the kitchen, so we upgraded those also while we were at it. Nothing can ever be easy... Did I mention we repainted twice because we didn't like the first color we picked out? It looks gorgeous now though, and we are very happy with our decisions!
