Eva sweeping and Ollie swiffering. Helping to take the laundry down to the basement.
Sucking cheerios out from under the table.
Eva washing Ollie's back.
Carrying groceries.
And last but not least, Oliver washing the floor. I tried to help, but he would get mad and say "No, it's my turn!!" I hope this continues far far into the future!

Back to school!
The report after school is that they both did fabulous, and had a great time. Ollie's teacher said he was quite the little chatterbox, and Evie's teacher said she was a little daredevil. I did warn them... There is a little wooden slide in her room, and her teacher said that she liked to crawl down it head first. Awesome.
Evie's first day of school ever! Oliver was such a good helper. He carried Eva's lunchbox for her.
Loading up the car.
This year Ollie is in the Teddy Bear room.
Eva is a Lamb.

Bye-bye binkie!
This weekend was a big one in the Haug house. After almost three years of having his beloved binkies for nap time and bedtime, Oliver bid farewell to them for good. Our pedi and dentist both said that the absolute cut-off was three, so we have just been letting it slide for awhile now. They both said that we could wait until all of his two-year molars came in (he still only has 3 of the 4, these kids teeth so late!!). I felt really stupid when I dropped him off at his first day of Mom's Day Out on Thursday and gave his teacher his pacifier for nap time. I mean, we are a mere 7 weeks out from his birthday. So Saturday when we were at Costco, we ventured into the toy area, where they had a fabulous assortment of trucks. We told Ollie that he could pick one if he gave his binkies up. He gave that a big fat no at first, but as he and Jon checked all of the trucks out, they found an excavator that plays music, moves, and the digger part goes up and down. He was sold.
As soon as we came home from Costco, we went up to his room to gather up his binkies. He was down to two, so it didn't take long. He put one in his mouth, sucked on it all the way down the stairs, stopped in the dining room and traded for the other one, sucked on it for the walk into the kitchen, and then phew, spit it into the garbage. One more suck on binkie #1, and phew, it got spit into the garbage too. The first nap he asked for it a few times, then Saturday night he only asked for it once. It has not been mentioned since, and wallah, we are 48 hours of being binkie free! If only we had known all it would take was a $16 excavator from Costco, it would have been done long ago! He is getting to be such a big boy! Now if we could only convince him to pee on the potty...

A-boating we will go!
Getting ready to go! Cruising along Morse Reservoir with Captain Mark.
Silas fell asleep with a MumMum in his mouth, but would wake up crying every time Heather took it out, so this is how he napped.
Me and my little clone.
The Dads and all of the babies in the water.
Eva tried to take off with the boat.
Oliver bringing the boat in.

12-month stats...
At one year, one week and one day, Evie had her one-year doctor's appointment. Needless to say, she is ahead of the game and did great! Dr. Bergstein was very impressed by her mobility and her verbal skills. She has definitely met all of her milestones (waving, clapping, saying mama and dada). I mentioned that she was mimicking animal sounds, and was told that this is a 20 month milestone. Folks, we have another genius in the making!! Anyways, here are her one-year stats:
Height: 30.5 inches (90th percentile)
Weight: 21 pounds, 5 ounces (50th percentile)
She is still long and lanky! Funny enough, she is the same height that Ollie was at a year, but weighs two pounds less. I'm not sure how, with the amount of food that she puts down; but it probably has something to do with the fact that she doesn't sit still for a second! She didn't even make a peep for her finger stick (her hemoglobin was fantastic), but was wailing by her second immunization. She had a rough day afterwards, but then was back to her sweet, smiley self. So proud of our big girl!
And PS-I know a lot of people couldn't view her birthday slideshow(not sure why it worked on our computer, but not others...), so I reposted that blog if you want to look back!

Mommy got away!
On the trolly to West Baden. In the West Baden lobby. It is a huge dome, and so beautiful! Both hotels were built in the early 1900's, and refurbished in the early 2000's.
Relaxing in the lobby. Look at the gorgeous old chaise and mosaic floor!
Before dinner drinks and appy at West Baden.
The porch at French Lick. There were rocking chairs surrounding both levels of porches. So quaint!
The back of the French Lick hotel. Beautiful!
Sorry all of my pictures were from the same night. Steph has some of us kayaking, so maybe I can share those later!

Eva Liz-12 months old
- At one year old, Evie is quite the little daredevil! She loves to climb, climb, climb. Onto chairs, into the toy baskets, into laundry baskets, etc. Pretty sure she won't be in her crib until 2 years old like Ollie was!!
- She loves to "talk on the phone". Everything is a phone. Toys, books, her hand. She will put them up to her ear and say something that sounds like 'Hello'?
- Eva LOVES books. She is so sweet; she will walk over to you with a book, climb in your lap, and hand it to you to read. She is really mimicking animal sounds, and when reading counting books, she will tap the page with you as you count the pictures on the page.
- Her favorite toys right now are the piggy bank and the etch-a-sketch. She loves drawing pictures, and putting the coins in the bank.
- She is a cuddler and a hugger. She will walk up to you and just hug your leg, and loves to give her brother and friends hugs. So sweet!
- She is making quite a few sounds these days. She says moh (more), mama, dada, dah-dah (when she sees a dog), and when she doesn't want something (like the sippy of milk we keep trying to get her to drink), she will shake her head no and say unh-unh. She surely picked that up from Oliver!! She has also started doing "cheers!!" at dinner. She will hold her cup up and say "che". She also communicates a lot of the time by grunting and pointing.
- One of her other favorite things to do is to help fasten her car seat buckle, and the safety lock under the kitchen sink.
- She is up to a size 5 shoe (I think she's going to be tall!!), is still mainly in 12 month clothes with some 18 months sprinkled in (still long and lean. We are lucky it's summer, because we don't have to worry about her pants being too short) and a size 4 diaper. Her 1-year doctor appointment is next week. I'm guessing she's around 21 pounds, but can't wait to see how tall she is!! Stay tuned...
She climbed into the toy basket herself. She can also climb into laundry baskets, but can't get back out quite yet... The tiny daredevil in action. I can't turn my back for a second these days!
She's so proud of herself!
Drawing on the etch-a-sketch.
Her favorite piggy bank! She will put all of the coins in, and then walk over to you and hand it to you so you can open it and get them out, and then she will start all over again. She will play with this over and over and over!
Talking on the "phone". This time, it's her hand.
